Deuteronomy 7.9 — Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is God; the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His loving-kindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments.
God can’t lie. It’s not just that He won’t; it’s that He just is not able to—it’s not in His nature. Everything He says comes to pass; every promise He makes, He fulfills. Every time He speaks, it happens.
We’re different than that. Our words are shallow, hollow, and often untrue. Lying is so common in our culture, that it’s surprising—and inspiring—to discover that someone has been truly honest with us. Sadly, broken promises are a way of life.
But the miracle of salvation is that God changes us. We were designed to be conformed to His image—the image of His Son who is the express (“stamped”) image of God’s person. And that means that our speech changes; it becomes His speech in every way. And He did that for a reason, and it both amazes me and surprises me:
When [Jesus] comes on that day to be glorified in his saints… — 2 Thessalonians 1.10
Happy 11th Anniversary Friends! Our faithful God has been at work in this little fellowship growing us, and working in us to reveal His glory through us. Each year we have seen His hand at work in our families and lives. We have seen how He heals and delivers. Year by year, we are witnesses to the greatness of His power and faithfulness to His purpose over us.
Our God is a covenant-keeping God. He fulfills His word, and He keeps His promises. My sincere hope for you this year is that you would become aware in a fresh way to the hope of His glory in you. Nothing is more fulfilling and meaningful than God’s glory being seen on your life.
Happy Anniversary Lighthouse!
